Gunnar from Growjoy asked whether newsletter providers could start providing physical plaques for reaching milestones, like YouTube and other platforms do:
Can some email service provider start doing plaques for newsletters that hit 100k, 500k, 1M etc?

This is a great idea, but I think it should be on the total number of opens rather than subscribers (as anyone can just upload a list) or only on subs gained through the platform (i.e. uploads don’t count).
I’d personally love it if beehiiv were to launch plaques for reaching 10K subs, 100K subs and 1M subs (has anyone got there yet?!).
I think this could also be done for content websites, when people achieve 10K/100K/1M unique visits per month, by platforms such as Ezoic who would be able to verify.
If none of this happens, you can always just go out and buy your own from companies creating them, with Plaque To Reality being my favourite:
💬 A Message from Ezoic

💸 Don’t Let Ad Revenue Fly Away
Most newsletter creators are pricing their ads way too low, as Shaan sets out in this tweet:
most newsletter operators price their Ads & sponsorship too low.
reasons why they do:
1. over catering to clients
2. not aware of market value
3. pricing based on what "they think it should be"
4. trying to compete with Google and Facebook Ads
5. no solid pricing strategy… httptwitter.com/i/web/status/1…— shaan (@shaanchagan)

Impressions in newsletters should be valued way higher than display ads on websites, and in a completely different league to CPC/CPA you can get from Google / Facebook.
Rather than pitching to completely cold traffic, newsletter businesses have a real audience, who are regularly engaging with the content and developing a level of trust with the writer.

☝️ One More Thing
Scott Oldford, CEO/Founder of The Wisdom Group has been at it again.
Two weeks ago he acquired this newsletter, along with the newsletter marketplace Duuce, and he has just announced another newsletter acquisition:
For our 18th newsletter property... today we acquired @8AMemail
I signed up for this email a while back... and I kept opening it...
Why? Because it was simple, short and to the point.
I reached out to the owner a few weeks ago and we signed the deal today.

8AM is a bite-sized daily email read by 1000s of creators and entrepreneurs and now joins the Wisdom Media family.
The founder, Christian Collard had a similar motivation to why I wanted to sell to Scott:
@scottoldford@8AMemail I just wanted to be a part of Scott’s new media empire!!
