Ā šŸ§Apple MPP explained

Open rates are dead according to Matt McGarry, Apple MPP (Mail Privacy Protection) being the cause.

Apple came out with this MPP in June 2021. Open rates have been seeing the impact since then. This article from Namecheap gets into more details and give 4 great tips:Ā

  • Define your audience with surveys

  • Encourage more responses

  • Monitor your siteā€™s user activity

  • Rely on click-through rates rather than open rates

Open rates are still used as a top 3 metric for newsletters. To have a global idea of the usage:

As of April 2023, Android, is the world's most-used operating system when judged by web use.

- For smartphones and other pocket-sized devices, Android dominates with 71% market share, and Apple's iOS has 28%.

- For desktop and laptop computers, Microsoft's Windows is the most used at 69%, followed by Apple's macOS at 17%, and Google's ChromeOS at 3.2% (in the US up to 8.0%), and desktop Linux at 2.9%.

Will we witness the ā€œdeathā€ of ORsā€¦? Only time will tell.
